Answer
Sprint is a time-boxed iteration of a continuous development cycle. Imagine the development of a new project is a race. Using such parallel the sprint would be one lap.
Within a sprint, some amount of work is planned to be completed and that amount is then delivered by the cross-functional development team. The delivered work should be completely done and ready for a customer, which means tested and deployed.
The Sprint term is mainly used in Scrum methodology.
