Advantages
- Is easily readable by the human
- Can be easily edited in text editor, no special application is needed
- Is widely adapted across the industry
- Is very flexible and can describe object hierarchy well (trees)
Disadvantages
- XML is relatively wordy - its data size is larger than in other formats (compression helps here)
