Answer
This question is asked to check how you keep yourself up to date, how you learn, how passionate you are, how efficiently you are able to talk about something that you read, how good communicator you are.
The technical screeners often give you this question to let you talk about what you like, what you learned, what is the motivation behind it.
If a candidate isn't able to say anyting on this topic, it is usually a red flag. The candidate most likely won't work with information well, won't keep up with frequent changes or won't be self-motivator.
When you are asked this question, always try to talk about books that are related to the role you are being interviewed for.
